The Watsons go to Birmingham

1. It was so cold on saturday, the Watsons sat huddled together under a blanket on the couch.

2. Momma felt the cold the most because she was from Alabama.

3. Kenny and his family lived in Flint, Michigan.

4. Joetta was Kenny's little sister.

5. According to Kenny, which of the following was not true of his older brother Byron? He tried to make Momma laugh all the time.

6. The weatherman said the temperature in Alanta, Georgia, would reach the mid-seventies.

7. Dad told Kenny,Byron, and Joetta they were lucky not to be the children of Momma's old boyfriends named Hambone Henderson.

8. When she was adout to laugh, Momma put her hands over her mouth because she had a big gap between her front teeth.

9. Which of the following was not a warning Moses Henderson gave Momma about Flint?Because it was cold, babies were born with lumpy heads.

10. Momma said life in Birmingham, even though it was not perfect, was slower, friendlier, and black people were lefted alone.

11. Since they couldn't contact their landlord about their cold apartment, the Watsons planned to spend the night with Aunt Cydney.

12. The Brown Bomber was the Watsons' 1948 Plymouth.

13. Byron and Kenny were not happy when dad ordered them to scrape the ice off the car windows.

14. Kenny was agitated because Byron was not doing his share of the work.

15. The night before, Byron and his friend Buphead had given Kenny lesson in how to survive a blizzard.

16. At first Kenny ignored Byron's calls because he thought his brother was playing another trick on him.

17. Kenny discovered that Byron's mouth was frozen onto the outside mirror.

18. Kenny's parents were shook up when they heard that Byron was crying.

19. Dad laughed at Byron's predicament because he realized that Byron had been kissig his reflection in the mirror.

20. Kenny could tell Momma was worried because she started to talk Southern style.

21. During Byron's ordeal, Dad kept laughing and making jokes about the situation.

22. Pouring hot water on the mirror was not a good idea.

23. With all five of them crying and standing around a car in freezing temperatures, Kenny thought it was no wonder the neighbors called them the Weird Watsons.

24. Momma freed Byron from his predicament by yanking his head away from the mirror.

25. On the way to Aunt Cyndey's when Kenny paid Byron back for punching him in the forehead and for not doing his share of work, all the Watsons except Byron cracked up.

HW #31

The song that I chose is called "Strength''and is by Whitney Houston. It some times makes me cry because it reminds me of my aunt Maxine who died. She used to say ''Even though Im dying I still have strength''.So now I love that song .In the song Whitney Houston was saying she didnt know her strength. That part reminds me of myself because you never know your own strength until like somebody mess with you and you just wild out.

The African Burial Ground

The African Burial Ground is very important to any american because they can go there to learn about their ancestors from many years ago.The African Burial Ground is very intersting and has lots of great artifacts. The builden was first made on top of some graves that were buried from long ago.

The African Burial Ground has freed slaves and enslaves who were buried.A little child died because he got worked to death. Some women were buried with their new born children.A women that was discovered had bullets in her ribs.Slaves were treated very harsh.Slaves were buried differently because they didnt have a grave stone. The slaves were placed in crypts which had 7 mouns and 60 coffins in each crypt. No one knew any of the slaves names because when they were found they didnt have grave stones. If someone doesnt know about slaves or what was happening during slavey then that person should go there. The African Burial ground has beautiful statues and lots of true artifacts.

The African Burial ground has been around for many years, but people discovered thatAfrican americans were buried there in 1991.Four-hundred-and nine slaves were lefted to be reburied. It is important to learn about the people who are buried in the African Burial ground and see the statues because it is fun and very interesting. In the south there was only slavery, not in New York in the 1700's.Enslaved and freed slaves played a major part in helping to build early New York City.So as you can see New York had alot to do with slavery if somebody didnt know that fact.

It is important to go to the African Burial ground so African americans dont forget where they came from. Not only can African americans go there but so can hispanic, whites,it doesnt matter anybody can go to thre African Burial ground.People know that children who were slaves got worked harder because they are littler.30 percent of 419 slaves that were buried were children because they were worked to death.
